Education Alumni Chats: These chats are a great opportunity to learn about working with education- and youth-focused nonprofits and to network with an alum in the field! Students can locate each event by searching “Education & Youth Development Nonprofit Speaker Series” in Handshake.
AmeriCorps: AmeriCorps VISTA offers 8-10 week internships across the country, as well as year-long jobs in service for graduating students. Both opportunities offer living allowances and a stipend at the end of the experience. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and students can apply to up to 10 positions. Parents Fund Internship Grant: Round 1: April 4, 2021 at 11:59pm & Round 2: May 9 at 11:59pm - See Handshake for application. Grants of $3,000 each are awarded to provide funds that support 2nd and 3rd-year students who have secured unpaid internships in areas of public concern as defined by the Virginia 2020 Commission: Civic Engagement and Public Policy, Economic and Business Development, Education, Environment Health, & Sustainability.
22nd Century Scholars: Applications will open soon for this paid, one-month, part-time summer internship experience giving students access to research, professional development and alumni mentorship in fields related to democracy, governance and public policy. Applications will be due mid-May, so keep an eye on the website for more details.
